Very few folks *here* have anything but good to say about the Savage, but I've noticed the opposite in the media. A lot of folks who write books and/or review bikes give the Savage an average *at best* rating. They never fall all over the bike.
Bang for the buck, you really can't beat the Savage. Grin to dollar ratio is huge (used market especially). It's a looker. Simple. Handles good.
It's motorcycling's best kept secret. It's also a bike you can rally around, like a collector type thing or "cult" bike. How many Big Single Thumpers are out there? V-twins (not to knock them) are a dime a dozen. Everyone has a V-twin. It's not everyday you see a bike like the Savage (unless you own one of course!).
